The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has placed all 44 CAAP-operated airports under heightened alert as Typhoon Crising moves across the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
CAAP Director General Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario (Ret.) has instructed all area and airport managers in potentially affected regions to activate their respective Airport Emergency Plans without delay and to maintain close coordination with local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs), airline operators, and other airport stakeholders to ensure passenger safety, secure facilities, and uphold continuous operational readiness.
Del Rosario said this move is in line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to uphold public safety and maintain uninterrupted transport services during adverse weather events.
The Bicol region, as the area mostly affected by Tropical Depression Crising, is currently making necessary preparations, particularly in the airports of Bicol (Legazpi), Naga, Virac, and Masbate.
According to PAGASA, Crising has slightly intensified while moving northwestward over the sea east of the region. Despite the weather disturbance, all airports within Bicol are operating normally, with no flight cancellations reported as of this time.
“CAAP reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the resilience and preparedness of all CAAP-operated airports. The Authority remains focused on safeguarding air travel operations while prioritizing the welfare of the flying public,” he said.
