The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), together with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Indra, a software company that provides proprietary solutions in Transport, Air Traffic and Defense markets have opened doors for a partnership aimed at enhancing the safety, efficiency, and advancement of the country’s Communication, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM).

Highlighting the significance of this collaboration, the DOTr and CAAP engaged in productive discussions with Indra during their meeting in February.

DOTr Undersecretary for Airports and Aviation, Atty. Roberto C.O. Lim, and CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo shared that they were advised by Indra that they would deliver a solution and funding package highly favorable to the Philippine Government.

To kick start this collaborative effort, CAAP and Indra Sistemas organized an Air Traffic Management (ATM) Presentation and Workshop, with the primary goal of delineating the proposed scope of work and responsibilities.

CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said the workshop also paved the way for a viable feasibility study, to be conducted by Indra’s team of technical and financial experts. The insights garnered through this workshop will be indeed instrumental in shaping the future of air traffic management in the Philippines.

DOTr and CAAP officials were joined by Mr. Alex Kapsa Belis of Indra-Australia and Mr. Ryan Earl So of Indra Philippines in the said workshop, Apolonio said.
