The Japan Radio Air Navigation Systems Association (JRANSA) and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines have co-hosted the Symposium on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Implementation for ASEAN.
The event is the first of many more activities that the country will take part in, towards the fulfillment of the GNSS Implementation Plan Training in ASEAN (GIPTA).
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said among these activities include the initial installation of GNSS equipment in the country and the training of GNSS personnel that will be spearheaded by JRANSA at the Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC). The members of the symposium also conducted a facility visit at the CATC last September 9, 2022.
“Learning from each state’s experiences to improve the status quo is what we all wish to achieve. With our shared objective of maintaining a safe and economic GNSS, in compliance with the ICAOs Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs), we hope that we all commit to further enhance our understanding of the issues, concerns, and best practices on matters related to GNSS,” CAAP Acting Director General Captain Manuel Antonio said.
Apolonio said the event was attended by Katsuyuki NAKATSUBO, CEO, Japan Radio Air Navigation Systems Association (JRANSA), Mr. Aung Soe Moe, Senior Officer (Air Transport), ASEAN Secretariat Office, Dr. Manjit Singh, Deputy Regional Director, ICAO Asia and Pacific Office, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Atty.
