The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) successfully conducted a series of Full-Scale Emergency Simulation Exercises across key airports, reinforcing aviation safety, preparedness and inter-agency coordination.

CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening aviation safety in line with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

“These exercises reflect our unwavering dedication to ensuring safe, secure, and resilient airports. CAAP is strengthening preparedness at every level so we can respond swiftly and effectively to any emergency,” Lt. Gen. Del Rosario said.

CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA) completed its full-scale exercise on December 5, 2025, simulating an off-airport emergency that tested command and control, communication, medical response, firefighting, security, and passenger handling.

Butuan Airport likewise conducted its Full-Scale Exercise on November 28, 2025, demonstrating its readiness and the importance of coordination among airport authorities, emergency services, and partner agencies to ensure public safety, Apolonio said, adding that the outcome of these exercises will guide updates to airport emergency response plans and further enhance overall safety and security across CAAP-operated airports.
