Booster shots balak gawing mandatory para sa seniors, immunocompromised

BALAK ng pamahalaan na gawing mandatory ang booster shots para sa senior citizens at sa mga may comorbidities upang mailigtas sila sa nakamamatay na COVID -19 infections.

Ipinahayag ni National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. noong Martes na ang malakawang pagbibigay ng booster shots ang lubhang nagpapababa ng “mortality rate” sa sa Covid sa ilang mga bansa.

“During the height of many deaths, we’ve seen that those 59 years old and above, as well as those with comorbidities, were very vulnerable so it was suggested for them to get booster dose and even a second booster dose,” ani Galvez sa isang interview sa isang vaccination activity sa Makati City.

“Those countries that have a high number of administered booster doses and even with fourth doses have a lower death rate of point three based on their cases,” idinagdag pa niya.

Ayon pa kay Galvez, ang impact ng booster vaccination bilang pagpapababa ng mortality rate ay pinag-usapan ng NTF, vaccine experts, ay iba nag health authorities.

Nais ding palitan ng pamahalaan ang kahulugan ng “fully vaccinated” sa pagkakaroon ng dalawang doses at booster shot.

“Meaning, when you say fully vaccinated, you were administered with at least three. The experts panel is now tackling that matter,” paliwanag ni Galvez.

Ayon naman kay DOH director Dr. Gloria Balboa, pinag-aaralan pa ang probisyon ng ikalawang booster shot o lalabas na ikatlong dose ng Covid vaccine.

“It needs to be based on studies abroad and locally so let’s just wait for whatever results of the study,” ayon kay Balboa.
