Officials from Bureau of Customs and Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 1 confiscated about 10 kilos of fresh onions and 2.5 kilos of garlic brought by an American passenger from Taiwan yesterday from Taipei on board China Airlines flight CI-701.
The said onions and garlic were discovered after they were scanned by X-ray machine placed in a check-in baggage of the passenger without necessary import and health permit from the Bureau of Plant Industry.
BOC-examiner turn over to the Plant Industry officials the said onions and garlic for their disposal. (JERRY S. TAN)
