BOC-NAIA and PDEA nab consignee of P7.4M worth of shabu

As part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) commitment on border protection, the Port of NAIA in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as part of the NAIA Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-DITG) seized P7.4 Million worth of shabu and successfully apprehended its consignee during a joint controlled delivery operations in Malolos, Bulacan.

Records reveal that the subject parcel was declared as water purifier from Laos. However, upon physical examination the parcel was discovered to contain 1,092 grams of white crystalline substance. Further laboratory testing revealed that the substance was methamphetamine also known as shabu. The shipment was estimated to have a street value of P7,425,600.


Thereafter, a team composed of BOC-NAIA CAIDTF, PDEA and NAIA-IADITG operatives performed a controlled delivery operation which resulted to the eventual arrest of the claimant.

The arrested claimant is currently detained and undergoing custodial investigation of PDEA for initiation of corresponding inquest proceedings for the violation of RA 9165 also known as the Anti-illegal Drugs Act and RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization Act (CMTA).

BOC-NAIA, under the leadership of BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, remains committed in preventing the entry of illegal drugs and ensure the prosecution of unscrupulous individuals connected to the illegal drug trade. (Baby Cuevas)
