BOC lawyer hurt in Pasay City ambush

A Bureau of Customs lawyer landed in serious condition after he was ambushed by motorcycle-riding men on Monday in Pasay City.

Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg identified the victim as 30-year-old Atty. Joseph Samuel Zapata, a BOC Internal and Prosecution Division investigator and residing at No. 128-C Capricorn St., Rainbow Village, San Isidro, Parañaque City.

Zapata was rushed to the Manila Doctors Hospital on UN Avenue, Ermita, Manila with a bulletwound in the head.

Macaraeg said the victim was driving home on his Toyota Fortuner (NBP-7726) around 6 p.m. and upon reaching Macapagal Boulevard, two men on a motorcycle approached the victim’s vehicle and the backdrider shot Zapata, hitting the back of his head.

The wounded victim continued to drive but hit another car, a Kia with plate number NBT-2523, being driven by one Windy Lane Ochoco, a resident of Central Bicutan, Taguig.

Macaraeg ordered an immediate investigation on the incident to determine the suspects’ identities and the motive behind the attack.
