The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested six foreign nationals found allegedly working illegally at commercial establishments in Binondo, Manila.
The operation was conducted on July 29 at a popular shopping mall in Binondo, where BI operatives apprehended six foreign nationals during an enforcement operation targeting illegal foreign workers.
It was learned from BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval that the arrested individuals were found allegedly engaged in retail activities in violation of the conditions of their stay and the Retail Trade Act.
Authorities are also verifying the identities and citizenship of the two individuals who claimed to be Filipino citizens.
The operation covered several stalls inside the shopping mall after intelligence information indicated that foreign nationals were engaged in unauthorized retail work.
The BI said charges for violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended, will be filed against the foreign nationals.
