The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said its officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) intercepted four American pedophiles who attempted to enter the country.
In a statement, Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the passengers were barred from entering the country during the past three weeks as part of the BI’s campaign to turn away sexual predators who prey on vulnerable Filipinos.
“They were denied entry after our immigration officers found that they were included in our alert of list of foreigners who have been convicted of sex crimes, mostly against minors, in their home countries,” Viado said.
He added that the country’s immigration act provides for the exclusion of aliens convicted of crimes involving moral turpitude.
The BI earlier this year also launched its #ShieldKids campaign, aimed at preventing the entry and stay of foreign sexual predators and sex tourists.
“They have been placed in our blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines for being undesirable aliens,” Viado said.
Ferdinand Tendenilla, acting chief of the BI’s border control and intelligence unit (BCIU) bared that all four passengers were already boarded on the next available flight to their port of origin after they were excluded.
Intercepted at the NAIA terminal 3 last Oct. 8 was former American serviceman Justin Henry Glasgow, 43, who arrived from Guam. He was reportedly convicted of child pornography in 2005 and sentenced by a court martial to 10 years in prison.
Daniel Clare Rademacher, 60, was turned away the next day at the NAIA Terminal 1 after arriving from Incheon.
He was convicted in 2004 on two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree wherein the victim was a 15-year-old girl.
On Oct. 12, Khallif Francis Ammen, 29, was also intercepted at the NAIA Terminal 1 after arriving from Los Angeles.
He was convicted in 2016 for child pornography and possession of lewd pictures and videos of his 11-year-old victim.
Also turned back at the same terminal was Brian Williamn Sanchez, 68, who arrived from Los Angeles on Nov. 2. He was convicted of child pornography in 2003 for victimizing a child.
