The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it has received a copy of the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) issued against 7 Office of the Vice President (OVP) officials.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said that they received the order on November 6 and have promptly included the names of the seven officials in their centralized database.
The ILBO is an order issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) instructing immigration officers to closely monitor the travel of subject individuals.
The issuance of the ILBO comes after the request of the House of Representatives Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability to the DOJ, citing a subpoena ad testificandum issued against the seven for their continued refusal to attend their Congressional inquiry.
Viado however clarified that the ILBO is for monitoring purposes only, and is not, in and by itself, sufficient to prohibit the subjects’ departure from the Philippines.
If encountered, immigration officers are instructed to promptly relay to the DOJ and the House of Representatives any pertinent information regarding the travel, and to check if there are freshly-issued orders against the subjects.
Viado said that the said order is accessible by all immigration officers nationwide, in all airports and seaport.
