The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Thursday successfully deported two Indian fugitives wanted in their country for criminal activities, even after one of them tried to escape by jumping from the second floor of the NAIA Terminal 1 but was rearrested.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco shared that the two fugitives identified as Amrik Singh, 34, and Hayer Amritpal Singh, 24 were deported via a Thai Airways flight to Delhi at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.

The duo are subject of a summary deportation order issued by the BI Board of Commissioners in March this year after being tagged as undesirable aliens.

They were escorted by agents of the BI, as well as Indian law enforcement officers.

Amrik was deported after he was found to have entered the country illegally and harbored another Indian fugitive that was wanted in India for involvement in terrorist activities.

Hayer, on the other hand, is wanted in India for several charges including violation of their unlawful activities prevention act. He is also the subject of an investigation for murder, and has a warrant of arrest issued against him for violation of his country’s arms act.

During the implementation of the deportation, BI Warden Facility Chief Leander Catalo shared that Hayer attempted to escape at the departure area by jumping off from the second floor, but was swiftly apprehended by BI operatives.

“The deportation of these criminals is a significant step for the bureau in ridding our country of foreigners who abuse our hospitality. Fugitives hiding in the country will be arrested, deported, and blacklisted,” he warned.
