The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has denied entry to two foreign nationals tagged as sex offenders in two separate incidents in Cebu and Manila.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said that on January 6, the BI denied the entry of a 63-year-old Swedish national identified as Borje Millert Hultberg a the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, when he arrived that afternoon from Sweden via Hong Kong on board a Cathay Pacific flight.

The alien was stopped after the BI received information from Nordic law enforcement that he was previously convicted in Sweden in 2023 for possession of child pornography.

Sandoval said that on the same day, the BI stopped the entry of a 52-year-old U.S. national identified as Rene Reyna at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1. Reyna flew in from Los Angeles to Manila on board a Philippine Airlines flight.

Records show that Reyna was convicted in 2013 in Texas for indecency with a child by contact, with the victim being only 16.

The BI’s #ShieldKids campaign is an intensified drive aims to prevent child exploitation by keeping registered sex offenders out of the country, leveraging international law enforcement cooperation, and intelligence sharing.

Both foreign nationals were refused entry and have been included in the BI’s blacklist, Sandoval said.
