The Bureau of Immigration (BI) continues its nationwide crackdown on illegal foreign nationals, with the recent arrest of a Chinese national in Maayong-Tubig, Dauin, Negros Oriental for overstaying.
The operation, conducted on February 27, 2025, is part of the Marcos administration’s intensified efforts to ensure strict enforcement of immigration laws across the country, not just in Metro Manila but also in provinces where undocumented foreign nationals may attempt to evade detection.
BI operatives, in coordination with the Dauin Police Station, arrested Chen Yimin, a 38-year-old Chinese national, for violating the conditions of his stay under the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
According to a report from BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato ‘Jun’ Manahan, Jr., Chen failed to present valid immigration documents when approached by authorities.
Manahan said Chen initially claimed to possess a Section 9(g) visa but was unable to provide proof. BI records show that he has been overstaying, hence BI agents immediately arrested him.
The BI reiterated its call for foreign nationals to comply with immigration regulations and warned that overstaying and other violations will be met with firm enforcement actions.
