The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended 192 foreign nationals in a major joint operation aimed at individuals involved in illegal online scam operations and other immigration violations.
The operation was conducted last Oct. 3 at a building located along Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue Extension and Macapagal Blvd in Pasay City. The mission was carried out in response to reports indicating the unauthorized employment and illegal activities of foreign nationals operating within the country.
BI operatives under Intelligence division chief Fortunato ‘Jun’ Manahan, Jr., together with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), Department of Justice – Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), successfully apprehended foreign nationals of Chinese, Vietnamese, and other nationalities.
These individuals were found engaging in unauthorized employment and illegal operations, in violation of the Philippine Immigration Act.
BI operatives have completed the initial procedures, including the identification and documentation of the individuals involved. Investigations are ongoing to determine further violations.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado praised the successful joint effort, emphasizing that the operation reflects the Bureau’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and safeguarding the nation’s borders.
