FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – Aspiring celebrity reservist Aya Fernandez shared her humbling and inspiring experience of undergoing the 45-day Basic Citizen Military Training that molds volunteer into capable reservists .
“I am enjoying the practical drills from map reading to rappelling. Even though it is rigorous and challenging, I can’t help but smile” Fernandez said of undergoing the BCMT training.
The Kapamilya actress-beauty queen shared that her reservist training experience has inspired her showbiz colleagues, particularly those who are starring in action roles, to volunteer and join the Army’s reserve force.
She added that she has been getting a lot of queries from netizens on how to become a reservist. “Everything that we do as reservists is for our country,” she remarked.
It can be recalled that Ms. Fernandez, who is a licensed diver, is among the 400 volunteers who began their 45-day BCMT at the headquarters of the National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group (NCRRCDG), Reserve Command, Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila.
The Philippine Army is beefing up its reserve units that will serve as the expansion base for the regular force in times of national emergencies, war, rebellion, or invasion. (VICTOR BALDEMOR)
