The Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RCPA) welcomed its 27th chief in a Change of Command Ceremony presided by Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido at Camp Riego de Dios, Tanza, Cavite.

Maj. Gen. Ramon P. Zagala took helm of RESCOM, succeeding Deputy RCPA Commander Brig. Gen. Samuel B. Manzano who led the command in acting capacity last month.

“To Maj. Gen. Zagala, on your shoulders rest the immense responsibility of ensuring that our reserve force remains ready and capable of meeting security challenges. A critical factor in this readiness is their ability to swiftly mobilize to their designated strategic locations, equipped with mission essential tools and confront threats, no matter the odds,” Lt. Gen. Galido remarked.

Maj. Gen. Zagala served as the Commander of the Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CRS, AFP) prior to his new designation. He also held key positions such as Senior Military Assistant to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., commander of the then Presidential Security Group (now the Presidential Security Command), AFP Spokesperson, and Philippine Army Spokesperson. He is part of the Officer Candidate Course (OCC) Class of 1994.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Manzano also led RCPA in an acting capacity in 2022. He previously served as the Deputy Regiment Commander and Chief of the Office of Ethical Standard and Public Accountability (OESPA) of the Light Reaction Regiment (LRR); Chief of Staff of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR); and Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2, of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM). He is a graduate of the Officer Preparatory Course and was commissioned in 1993.
