Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido briefed media partners about the upcoming first-ever, army-wide Combined Arms Training Exercise (CATEX) “Katihan” in a gathering with the press at the Philippine Army Officers’ Clubhouse in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on February 15, 2024.

The Army Chief also updated members of the Defense Press Corps (DPC) and the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP) about the culmination of CATEX “Katihan” and the 127th Philippine Army Day on March 22, 2024 in Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac which will be graced by President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

“As we prepare for the first-ever Army-wide CATEX ‘Katihan’, we want to take this opportunity to engage and renew ties with you,” the Army Chief told the members of the press.

“We are counting on you to share our story as we hold the CATEX ‘Katihan’ as well as the 127th year of our service to the Filipino people,” Lt. Gen. Galido remarked.

The upcoming exercise, which bolsters the Army’s shift to territorial defense operations, will involve around 4,000 to 5,000 troops coming from Army units in the Visayas and Mindanao.

CATEX “Katihan” will emphasize the significance of training in creating a formidable and strong army, according to Army Chief Public Affairs and Spokesman Col. Louie G. Dema-ala.
