ARMY MINTS 288 NEW SECOND LIEUTENANTS

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – A total of 288 new second lieutenants of the Officer Candidate Course (OCC) Class 59 “Talahiraya” 2023 completed the one-year training for Army officers in a graduation ceremony at the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command, Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac .

The top professions of the newly-commissioned officers are engineers, information technologists, accountants, and teachers who hurdled the pre-entry course that includes a basic military training program, officer training program, and warfighting program.


Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. graced as the ceremony’s Guest of Honor and Speaker who praised the Philippine Army for coming up with a group with diverse skills, which is the future of the Army forces.

“I congratulate the Army for its recruitment program wherein they recruited such varied pool of talents which would serve the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ vision to protect our territorial integrity and national sovereignty,” he said in his remarks

The Philippine Army conducted the Officer Candidate Course “Talahiraya” Class 59-2023 Graduation Ceremony with Defense Secretary, Gilberto Teodoro Jr. as the Guest of Honor and Speaker .


In his message, the Defense Secretary congratulated the 288 members of the “Talahiraya” Class and expressed his gratitude to the graduates for choosing to serve the country and helping build the Armed Forces envisioned in the future.

“To the graduates, I expect topnotch performance from all of you, given your academic records and your performance in the past. This is just the beginning of your responsibilities of leading and performing important tasks to contribute to national defense,” said the Defense Secretary.
