The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it has received information from Indonesian authorities that former Mayor Alice Guo has been arrested in Indonesia.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that Guo was arrested in Tangerang City in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 4 at around 1:30 AM.
Guo is currently in custody of the Indonesian Police at Jatanras Mabes Polri.
“The information has been confirmed by our immigration counterparts in Indonesia, and we are very happy with this development,” said Tansingco.
“We have immediately forwarded the information to the Department of Justice and the Office of the Executive Secretary,” said Tansingco. “We are anticipating her return to the Philippines soon,” he added.
He believes that Guo’s return to the Philippines would shed light to many questions about her illegal departure, as well as allow her to face numerous cases being filed against her.
