The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said that it is set to deport 8 illegal aliens arrested in a recent operation conducted in a village in Muntinlupa City.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado shared that 6 Chinese men, one Vietnamese man and one Chinese woman were arrested last October 22 by operatives of the BI’s intelligence division under its chief, Fortunato ‘Jun’ Manahan, Jr.

The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Department of Justice (DOJ) inter-agency council against trafficking (IACAT) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) National Capital Region (NCR).

“The homeowner association representatives of the Ayala Alabang Village were very helpful in helping us verify target areas,” said Viado.

Viado said that the suspects were arrested in 3 separate streets inside the village. All 8 were found to be undocumented. Two of them were also found to be overstaying, while one was suspected to be an illegal entrant.

The DOJ and the NBI earlier shared that the 8 were found with items involved in online scamming.

“We have found reason to file deportation cases against them,” said Viado. “They will be considered undesirables once their cases are resolved, and face deportation,” he added.

Viado said that they have received information that smaller ‘pockets’ of scamming hubs are forming after the closure of big POGO hubs in the country.

He added that they are working closely with the DOJ and other local law enforcement agencies ensure that syndicate members are arrested and deported.
