Muling nanawagan ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa hanay ng Communist Party of the Philippines at sa kanilang armed wing na New People’s Army na samantalahin na ang alok na pagbabagong buhay ng Marcos administration.
“Through decisive operations and a whole-of-nation approach, their capabilities have been significantly crippled, with only one weakened guerrilla front set for dismantling,” pahayag ni AFP Chief-of-Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. nitong Huwebes kaugnay sa ika-56 anibersaryo ng komunistang kilusan.
Ayon kay Gen Brawner, nahaharap ang CPP at armed wing nitong New People’s Army, sa “leadership vacuum, shrinking membership, and diminished operational capabilities.”
“We urge the remaining members of the CPP-NPA to abandon their armed struggle, reunite with their families, and contribute to peaceful and progressive communities,” hikayat pa ni Brawner.
“The AFP, in collaboration with other agencies, is committed to supporting those who surrender through various reintegration programs by the government. Let us work together for lasting peace and a better future for all Filipinos,” dagdag pa niya.
Nauna nang sinabi ng NTF- ELCAC na isang ‘weakened guerilla front’ ng NPA na lamang ang natitira at nasa may 1,000 nagtatagong tauhan na lamang ang target ng military operation.
