Simula kahapon ay naka-red alert ang buong pwersa ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at inihanda na ang lahat ng kanilang available asset para sa mabilis na pagtugon sa mga posibleng problemang kakaharapin para matiyak na magiging patas , maayos at mapayapa ang gaganaping Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan election ngayong lunes.
Ayon kay Col. Medel Aguilar, tagapagsalita ng AFP, partikular nilang tututukan ang may 361’areas of concern’ na natukoy ng Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (JPSCC)
“Ready na tayo sa eleksyon, naka-deploy na ‘yung mga tropa, we will be deploying 117,000 troops and of course focus on the election areas of concern, the 361 identified by the JPSCC,” ani Col Aguilar.
Nabatid na ipinag-utos ni AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner na gawing available ang kanilang military assets ‘as soon as possible’ at tiyakin na magkakaroon ng ‘secure, free, orderly conduct of election.’
Inihayag naman ni Army spokesman Col. Xerxes Trinidad, ang bagong talagang AFP Public Information Office chief, na naka- full alert sila hanggang sa matapos ang election o kung kailangan na palawigin ito.
Inihayag din ni Trinidad na naglagay sila ng mga augmentation force sa mga lugar na tinaguriang ‘areas of immediate concern’ partikular sa nasasakupan ng Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao, Masbate at ilang lugar sa Abra.
“We deployed some of our forces for augmentation of course dun sa areas considered by the (COMELEC as areas of concerns) , lalong-lalo na dun sa mga situations, particularly in BARMM as we deployed previously around almost a thousand troops and some parts of Mindanao and meron din tayong mga deployment sa Negros Oriental at re-deployment of forces dito, ” aniya.
“We have to assure our communities that it will be safe through our presence and that is of course, sa mga individual organizations performing these ano, we are always in support to the Comelec and to our partner na PNP, together with the PCG sa mga deployment and mga ating equipment or transportation used, ” dagdag pa ni Trinidad.
