The Armed Forces of the Philippines officially launched the 8th iteration of the AFP Joint Exercise (AJEX) “DAGIT-PA’, led by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner, Jr, at Camp Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

The event marked the commencement of the annual unilateral exercise that will be conducted from November 4 to 15, within the islands of Luzon and Palawan.

DAGIT-PA, which stands for “Dagat-Langit-Lupa,” is a comprehensive training initiative utilizing various assets from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines, aimed at strengthening the AFP’s capabilities in land, air, and maritime operations.

The AJEX DAGIT-PA is a multiservice exercise that will feature joint operations involving different units from the Major Services, Western Command, and AFP Special Operations Command. Also joining are other government agencies to include the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police.

The exercise will focus on territorial defense, maritime security and cyber defense. These include capabilities development training that enhances our forces’ tactics, techniques and procedures essential for effective coordination during multi-domain operations.

In his message, Brawner emphasized the importance of AJEX in the AFP’s continuous efforts to modernize and adapt to evolving security challenges.

“This exercise provides us with an invaluable opportunity to hone our skills, ensuring the interoperability and effectiveness of our joint forces in the face of evolving security challenges,” he said.

The exercise underscores the AFP’s focus on enhancing its operational effectiveness and maintaining a robust defense posture in an increasingly complex regional security environment.
