CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – Tatlong units ng 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army ang binigyan ng parangal ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas kasabay ng ika-87 anibersaryo ng AFP sa Camp Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City nitong ika-21 ng Disyembre 2022.
Ang parangal ay iginawad sa 603rd Infantry (Persuader) Brigade na pinamumunuan ni Colonel Michael A Santos at ang dalawang mga battalion sa ilalim ng nasabing brigade. Ito ang 7th Infantry (Tapat) Battalion na pinamumunuan ni Lieutenant Colonel Frederick M Chicote at 37th Infantry (Conqueror) Battalion na pinamumunuan naman ni Lieutenant Colonel John Paul D Baldomar.
Mismong si Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), Lieutenant General Bartolome Vicente O Bacarro ang nagbigay ng parangal na Campaign Streamer ng AFP hinggil sa pagwasak at pagsugpo ng nabanggit nay unit ng militar sa dalawang mga gerilya front ng komunistang terorista. Ito ang Guerilla Front West Daguma at Guerilla Front East Daguma ng Sub-Regional Command Daguma sa ilalim ng Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) ng communist terrorist group sa lugar na nasasakupan ng Persuader Brigade.
“We’d like to express our appreciation to the AFP for this distinction. We also want to thank the troops and stakeholders for their efforts, notably the local government’s role in bringing back these people to the folds of law. Thus, we will exert even more effort to eradicate the remnants of the communist terrorist group from the territory controlled by the 603rd Persuader Brigade,” pahayag ni Col. Santos.
Una na ring nagpaabot ng pasasalamat ang mga opisyal ng lalawigan ng Sultan Kudarat at mga bayan na nasasakupan nito sa mga pagsisikap ng sundalo na puksain ang insurhensiya sa kanilang lugar upang magkaroon ng ganap na kapayapaan at kaunlaran.
Agad namang nagpaabot ng kanyang pagbati si Major General Roy M Galido, ang Commander ng 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division at Joint Task Force Central sa 603rd Brigade, 7IB at 37IB sa tagumpay na ito. Gayunpaman, pinaalalahanan nito ang bawat tropa na “don’t lower your guard down”.
“Although we have decreased the number of Guerilla Fronts, the challenges are still there but we are very optimistic about making insurgency free doable in Central and South-Central Mindanao”, giit pa ni Maj. Gen. Galido.
Kaugnay nito, patuloy pa rin ang kanyang panawagan sa mga natitira pang miyembro ng NPA na biktima ng panlilinlang at maling impormasyon na magbalik-loob sa gobyerno.
