AFP CHIEF OF STAFF RETURNS TO MARAWI, INSPIRES TROOPS TO UPHOLD SWORN DUTY

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Romeo S Brawner Jr on September 28, 2024, returned to the 103rd Infantry Brigade in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur where he once served as Brigade Commander during the Marawi siege.

Addressing the troops, General Brawner rallied them to preserve the hard-fought gains against Dawlah Islamiya and other terrorist groups, asserting the need to neutralize enemy presence by the end of the year according to AFP Public Information Office chief Col Xerxes Trinidad.

General Brawner also urged the soldiers to remain professional and committed to their sworn mandate so as to keep the country safe.


“Let us only obey lawful and legal orders, and follow the chain of command. Let us be loyal to our country and the constitution,” said the AFP Chief.

The following day, General Brawner visited Marawi Ground Zero, reinforcing the AFP’s commitment to the area and its people.

This visit also reassured the troops of the leadership’s unwavering support for their operations as he outlined initiatives aimed at strengthening modernization and enhancing international alliances.
