By: Victor Baldemor Ruiz

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, Jr. urged the future crop of Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) graduates to pursue a culture of innovation and change in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas.’

In giving his remarks as a keynote speaker in PPSC’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, the DILG Chief highlighted the culture of growth fostered by the PPSC and commended its unwavering commitment to its cause.

“For 30 years, it is an unparalleled commitment by the men and women of PPSC to mold you from men into leaders. Congratulations.! This milestone of the PPSC is indeed a testament to its officials and its faculty members to instill in its students a culture of excellence, dedication, and resilience.”

He emphasized the importance of adapting to the growing needs of society as the landscape of safety and criminality changes, using the example of the recent surge in cybercrime as the leading category in criminal cases.

“We must never rest on our laurels, embark on innovations, be resourceful, and always plan for the future. It is high time for us in the PPSC to embrace this change, to be more aggressive and innovative in honing and nurturing the minds of our police, fire, and jail officers,” he added.

Likewise, PPSC President PBGen. Ferdinando Sevilla, in his welcome remarks, noted that this year’s theme “Bida at Siklab sa Pagbabago sa Bagong Pilipinas,” is in line with the advocacy of the DILG, both complementing the brand of leadership and governance of the President.

The Philippine Public Safety College was founded in 1993, under Section 66 of Republic Act 6975. It aims to be the foremost educational facility dedicated to the instruction and development of individuals belonging to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
