CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division joined PNP and COMELEC in the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC) Coordinating Conference in preparation for the upcoming 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections held at the PNP Regional Office 10, Camp Alagar, Lapasan, Cagayan De Oro City on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Commission on Election Regional Election Director Atty Renato A Magbutay, together with Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 Regional Director PBGen Lawrence B. Coop, 4ID Commander Major General Jose Maria R Cuerpo II, and other stakeholders attended the activity, which aims to extensively discuss matters pertaining to the election plans and preparations, with a strong emphasis on comprehensive security procedures, deployment of troops, and contingency measures to prevent any violent incidents that could pose a threat to voters, disrupt the transportation of ballots, and impede the casting of votes.
Atty Magbutay asserted that collaborative efforts among COMELEC, PNP, AFP, and all stakeholders are needed to secure the conduct of the election and the safety of the voting public. Likewise, Atty. Magbuntay enjoined other sectors in their collaborative efforts to ensure the success of the electoral process.
“The Commission on Election can not do it alone. We need the help of all the stakeholders. We need the help of the PNP and the AFP to keep the peace and security in our area so that people can go out of their houses, go out of their homes and vote freely on election day. We need other stakeholders also. We need to collaborate and encourage other sectors of our society to be with us in this endeavor,” Atty. Magbutay said.
Meanwhile, MGen Cuerpo II assured Atty Magbutay and COMELEC of the Philippine Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguard the voting public and the integrity of the election.
“We would like to assure the Regional Director and the Commission on Election that your Philippine Army will be your solid partner in this election 2023 for us to be able to achieve our objective of an honest, peaceful, credible and free election,” MGen Cuerpo II said.
It can be recalled that through AFP-PNP proactive preparation, high degree of interoperability, and coordination with the COMELEC, coupled with the collective and collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, propelled the overall success of the May 9, 2022, National And Local Elections.
