The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division joined the Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro in commemorating the anniversary of General Douglas MacArthur’s arrival in the city 82 years ago, held at the MacArthur Memorial Marker, Brgy. Macabalan wharf on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
Colonel Warren Munda, the Commanding Officer of the Task Force Oro represented 4ID Commander Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II in the said activity, together with other 4ID Officers and Enlisted Personnel, LGU Officials and staff.
During the commemoration, a wreath laying ceremony followed by a 21 Gun Salute and TAPS was conducted led by CDO City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas and former city mayor Constantino ‘Tinnex’ Jaraula. Furthermore, a PT-41 boat replica from veterans group and donors was officially turned over.
Maj. Gen. Cuerpo II emphasized the significance of the commemoration which honors the legacy, sacrifices and patriotism of the Filipino and American forces led by Gen. MacArthur during World War II.
