300,000 LABI NG MGA SUNDALONG HAPONES TARGET NG IUWI NG JAPAN; DILG TUTULONG SA REPATRIATION

TARGET nang Japanese government na mahanap at maibalik na sa bansang Hapon ang may 300,000 sundalong Hapones na nasawi nuong World War II na nanatiling nasa Pilipinas.

Tiniyak naman ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. na susuportahan at tutulong ang kanilang kagawaran sa pagpapa uwi sa labi ng libo libong Japanese soldiers na nalibing sa Pilipinas.

Ito ay kasunod ng naganap na pagpupulong sa pagitan ng DILG at ilang Japanese officials kasabay ng pagtiyak ng kanilang kooperasyon sa repatriation efforts.


Nakaharap ni SILG Abalos sa nasabing pagpupulong sina Counsellor and Health Attache Hori Kazuichiro at Second Secretary Matsushige Tomoaki mula sa Embassy of Japan in the Philippines; Director Sato Hiroshi and Deputy Director Furukawa Kazuchika mula MHLW of Japan; at DFA Deputy Assistant Secretary Raphael SC. Hermoso at Principal Assistant Maghie Lacaba.

Sa nasabing pakikipagtalakayan ng kalihim kay Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) of Japan na pinamumunuan ni Minister for Economic Affairs Nihei Daisuke ng Japanese Embassy ay tiniyak nito na tutulong ang DILG at Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa Japanese government para matiyak magiging maayos ang recovery and repatriation ng mga labi ng Japanese war-dead .


“Japan remains one of the closest partners and allies of the Philippine government and we are ready to assist them in the recovery of the remains of their fallen soldiers,”ani Atty Abalos.

Nabatid na taong 2018 pa nagsimulang pormal na makipag ugnayan ang Japanese government sa Pilipinas para sa paghanap at pagpapauwi ng kanilang mga namatay na sundalo sa pilipinas.


Sa record, “In May 2018, the Philippines and Japan signed an MOC to facilitate the proper collection, handling, storage, and shipment of the remains of Japanese soldiers who died during World War II in the Philippines.”
