Camp Lapulapu, Cebu City – The Visayas Command (VISCOM) in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Region 7, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 7 launched the first ever Mobile E-Learning Hub in the country in a simple Launching and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony held at the DepEd Ecotech Center Pavilion in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.
The event was graced by the Vice President and Secretary of the Department of Education, Hon Sara Z Duterte-Carpio as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
The Mobile E-Learning Hub is a modified trailer truck with a 20-foot container van. Inside the van is a learning hub, with 20 laptop computers and printers, tables, chairs, and shelves. It has a Smart TV and internet connection. The hub has its own generator set to ensure that it can operate in areas with power interruption issues.
Lieutenant General Benedict M Arevalo PA, the Commander of VISCOM expressed his delight toward the realization of the project, “You cannot prevent a good idea from coming into realization. Today, we are happy to partner again with DEPED, especially on this endeavor. This is the first Mobile E-Learning Hub that we are launching, and we hope that this will not be the last. We hope that there will be more of this project in the coming years.”
Meanwhile, Vice President Duterte expressed her gratitude to all the stakeholders of the project, as she emphasized that the Mobile E-learning Hub is a ‘symbol of their collective dedication to progress, education, and inclusivity.’
The Vice President further emphasized that she envisions to replicate and expand the Mobile E-Learning Hub in other areas of the country so as to serve and cater more Filipino students in the years to come.
