May kabuuang 1,763 bar examinees na naka-rehistro ang hindi tumuloy na kumuha ng nasabing examination sa unang araw ng pagsusulit, matapos maitala na 10,483 lamang ang ‘registered examinees’ na pumunta sa 13 testing centers sa bansa.
Ayon kay Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario Lopez, ngayong 2024 may pinakamataas na bilang ng mga examinees na hindi tumuloy na kumuha ng bar examination.
“During the application period, many prospective examinees were still completing their final year of law school or refresher courses. Unfortunately, some did not graduate and/or encountered unforeseen circumstances that led to the withdrawals,” paliwanag ni Lopez.
Gayundin, mas lamang umano ang mga kababaihang kumuha ng bar examination kumpara sa lalaki, kung saan umabot sa 6,108 ang babaeng kumuha ng eksaminasyon habang 4,375 lamang ang lalaki.
Samantala,sinabi ni Lopez na patuloy ang SC sa pagpapatupad ng mga reporma sa Bar Examinations.
“These reforms incorporate structural and methodological improvements recommended during the 2019 Legal Education Summit and are part of the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 (SPJI),” ani Lopez.
Naniniwala umano si Lopez na ang mga naturang reporma at innovation ay makakapagtaas ng standards ng legal practice sa Pilipinas at maihahandang.mabuti ang mga abogado sa mga hamon na kakaharapin ng mga magiging abogado sa hinaharap.
“The exams are designed not only to assess legal knowledge but also to test practical skills, ethical responsibility, and problem-solving abilities. Our aim is to produce lawyers who are not just prepared to practice but who are also equipped with the professionalism, empathy, and commitment to public service needed to serve effectively,”dagdag ni Justice Lopez matapos ang traditional breakfast sa mga deans mula sa iba’t- ibang law schools.
