“WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH PEOPLES JOURNAL TONIGHT AND WE WILL NOT ENGAGE IN FAKE NEWS”

Peoples Online Tonight (POT) would like to inform the public that it has nothing to do with People’s Journal Tonight (PJT for brevity) which came under fire for publishing five ‘attack stories’ against Vice President Leni Robredo on its front page.

Peoples Online Tonight is the only duly-registered corporation which publishes the Peoples Online Tonight newspaper and operates the online news portal bearing the same name.

This clarification is being issued in response to those who erroneously aired their complaints through our Facebook page.

Facebook user Balaoro Ronnel on March 14 posted on our Facebook page the comment, “Bistado ka n rin Peoples Tonight Online” where he shared a post from “Pinoy Ako Blog” saying: “Bongbong Marcos: No to Negative Campaigning.”

The same post said that “People’s tonight is owned by Romualdez…” and then attached a copy of the PJT where five headlines were dedicated to attacking Robredo.

Our newspaper and online portal, “Peoples Online Tonight”, does not and never will engage in sloppy journalism, negative campaigning or utter unprofessionalism and most specially, fake news.

We will also not allow our news outlets to carry any articles that are not based on facts and that are merely meant to smear anyone’s reputation, specially for the purpose of promoting another.

A news article in Yahoo written by Mark Ernest Famatigan and titled, “Netizens grill Romualdez-owned tabloid for anti-Robredo stories” said, in part: “Some supporters of presidential aspirant Leni Robredo noticed on Monday (March 14) that a tabloid has been putting the vice president under a bad light.

The tabloid – People’s Tonight – turned out to be owned by Leyte 1st District representative Rep. Martin Romualdez, cousin of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.”
The said article was clear. It was referring to “PEOPLE’S JOURNAL TONIGHT” only and not to “PEOPLES ONLINE TONIGHT.”

We hope this clears the matter once and for all and that our Facebook page will no longer be receiving misdirected complaints and comments.

Rest assured that the publication and online portal of PEOPLES ONLINE TONIGHT will always remain reputable and uphold the time-honored standards of decent journalism.
