The Sta. Ana Hospital (SAH) headed by Director Dr. Grace Padilla achieved another feat, after gaining accreditation as a Level 3 Service Capability Hospital by the Department of Health (DOH).

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna proudly announced this, saying the accomplishment reflects the hospital’s unwavering commitment to providing high-quality healthcare to the residents of Manila.

Lacuna congratulated, commended and thanked Padilla as well as the entire staff of the SAH for their accomplishment, stressing that the accreditation of the hospital from Level 2 status to Level 3 marks a significant milestone in the hospital’s journey of continued excellence and service to the community.

“Congratulations to Sta. Ana Hospital on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to witnessing the continued success and positive impact that this esteemed institution will undoubtedly bring to the community it so diligently serves,” the mayor said.

With its new level status, Lacuna added, the SAH is expected to continually grow and expand its services and as such, we are highly confident that it will remain a beacon of excellence in healthcare, providing top-tier medical services to the people of Manila.

Lacuna said the hospital’s success in achieving Level 3 accreditation is a testament to its continuous efforts in enhancing its services, expanding its capabilities and adhering to the highest standards of healthcare.

For her part, Padilla said the landmark achievement reflects the collective efforts of the SAH’s administration, healthcare providers and support staff.

“This accomplishment would not have been possible without the visionary leadership of the City Government of Manila under Mayor ‘Honey’ Lacuna-Pangan and the unwavering support of the Department of Health. It is also a recognition of the trust and confidence that the community places in Sta. Ana Hospital, a trust that the hospital has earned through years of dedicated service,” Padilla said.

Padilla also said the entire staff working with her are immensely proud to recognize and celebrate the SAH for achieving the prestigious Service Capability Level 3 accreditation, teaching and training institution.

“This Level 3 accreditation marks not just an endpoint, but a new beginning in Sta. Ana Hospital’s journey to further elevate its standards, enhance its service offerings and ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care,” the lady doctor added.

Established in 2010, the SAH has steadily grown to become the second-largest healthcare facility owned and operated by the city government of Manila.

An ISO 9001:2015 certified hospital with a 300-bed capacity, it has consistently delivered comprehensive and compassionate care, through its dedicated team of skilled doctors, nurses and healthcare practitioners.

It was learned from Padilla that the upgrade to a Level 3 hospital signifies that the SAH now offers a broader range of specialized medical services, advanced diagnostic and treatment options and enhanced patient care facilities.

This accreditation is particularly noteworthy as it reflects the hospital’s readiness and capacity to handle more complex medical cases, ensuring that the residents of Manila have access to the best possible care without the need to travel far from their homes, Padilla said.

Moreover, she added, the hospital’s License to Operate issued by the Department of Health’s Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau highlights its expanded service offerings. These include specialized diagnostic services like Level 3 Diagnostic X-ray Services and Computed Tomography (CT) scans, anatomic pathology (cytology and surgical), rHIVda confirmatory laboratory and a dialysis clinic with six stations.

The hospital also houses an authorized blood bank with additional capabilities to collect, test, and process blood, further enhancing its ability to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

“Equipped with isolation units and staffed by a healthcare team trained in contamination control, the hospital has been at the forefront of the city’s efforts to curb the spread of infectious diseases. The continuous training of its healthcare professionals, in collaboration with the DOH and the Manila City local government unit, exemplifies Sta. Ana Hospital’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care,” Padilla assures.

Sta. Ana Hospital is well-known for its extensive outpatient departments across all major specialties, catering to non-emergency concerns and providing free ancillary services, including laboratory and diagnostic services for Manila residents and senior citizens.

The hospital’s ability to offer such comprehensive care, coupled with its partnerships with other city hospitals both public and private, ensures that patients receive a continuum of care even for services not directly available within its premises.

The recognition as a Level 3 facility also underscores Sta. Ana Hospital’s critical role in managing public health challenges, including its robust response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
