GOOD news to university and senior high school (SHS) students in Manila.
Mayor Honey Lacuna has already signed the payroll for the city government’s monthly cash assistance for students of the two city-run universities as well as those in SHS.
According to Lacuna, the cash aid which the city released covers the monthly allowance of SHS students from all of the city’s public high schools and those who are studying at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) and the Universidad de Manila (UdM) headed by Felma Tria.
The grant of such financial aid is part of the city government’s social amelioration program for which a budget of about P117 million had been alloted.
The provision of financial assistance, she said, is aimed not only at helping alleviate the financial condition of the students and their respective families but moreso, at encouraging the students to study hard with the goal of getting a degree and landing a job that would help them extricate their families from poverty.
