NEW BUILDING TO RISE AT BOYS’ TOWN TO BETTER SERVE WARDS

A NEW administration building aimed to provide better service for and accommodate more wards will soon rise at the Manila Boys’ Town Complex in Marikina.

Mayor Honey Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo and Manila department of social welfare chief Re Fugoso led the groundbreaking of the new building which will have multi-purpose halls which will not only serve as additional spaces for the homeless.

Lacuna thanked Fugoso, City Engineer Armand Andres and Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo for the joint project which will redound to the benefit of MDSW workers and those staying there under the care of the local government unit.

Fugoso said the multi-purpose halls may also be used as an area for indoor recreational activities for the ‘clients’ being taken care of at the said complex.

As of August 26, 2022, Fugoso said the total number of wards that are being served in the MBC is broken down as follows: Kids’ Home – 28; Girls’ Home – 103; Boys’ Home – 142.

The “Luwalhati Ng Maynila” which takes care of senior citizens houses 189 male and 200 female elderlies or a total of 389 in all.

Of the 524 total RAC-KAMADA or the homeless or streetdwellers meanwhile, 465 are housed in the main building while 59 stay at the Pag-asa building.

It was learned that the individuals being taken care of at the said complex are not only provided with three square meals a day, but also with hygiene requirements as well. (Baby Cuevas)
