MONDAY CLASSES, CITY HALL OPERATIONS IN MANILA SUSPENDED DUE TO ‘KARDING’

There are no classes and City Hall work in Manila on Monday, September 26, 2022 owing to typhoon ‘Karding’.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna declared on Sunday a suspension of classes in all levels, public and private, face to face and online.

Work at Manila City Hall is also suspended except those departments and offices involved in disaster and emergency response.

A statement from spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante said that Lacuna has left the suspension of work in private companies at the discretion of their employers.

Abante also stated that the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) headed by Arnel Angeles and other related Manila city government departments are now on red alert.

This, as declogging operations are ongoing to mitigate flooding in the city, along with the preparation of the city’s evacuation centers for possible preemptive evacuation of residents in coastal areas.

Meanwhile, Lacuna ordered that all city hospitals and health centers be also kept open and ready to handle typhoon-related cases. (BABY CUEVAS)
