MAYOR HONEY, VICE MAYOR YUL, GIVE CASH AID TO MANILA FIRE VICTIMS

MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto distributed financial assistance to residents whose homes got razed by fire recently.

The two highest officials of the city called on the fire victims to not lose hope, with an assurance that the city government will do everything legally possible to aid them.

A total of 489 families were given financial assistance at the Manila City Hall where Lacuna was also assited by personnel from the Manila Department of Social Welfare headed by Re Fugoso.

It was learned that the recipients were families whose houses were gutted down by fire beginning month of June up to the most recent one.

Each of the families were given P10,000 and belonged to various districts in the city.

According to Fugoso, the total amount distributed reached P4,896,000 and that the recipients included those who were covered by the transition in June.

Some of the fire victims were given assistance just now since the distribution of financial aid was covered by the election ban.

Lacuna called on the residents to take extra precaution as she noted the high number of fire incidents that had hit the city in the last few months.

“Sana po wag na kayo maging biktima muli ng anumang kalamidad. Pero kung mangyari man po, asahan ninyo narito kami bilang kaagapay ninyo,” Lacuna told the residents.

For his part, Servo-Nieto told the residents to be strong and continue praying, as he also thanked them for their support for the Asenso Manileno party which they showed during the last polls. (Baby Cuevas)
