MAYOR HONEY UNVEILS MANILA MAYORS’ PORTRAITS, OPENS TO PUBLIC TOWER CLOCK MUSEUM

MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna is back from her official trip as she personally led yesterday’s unveiling of the newly-refurbished portraits of Manila mayors, launching of coffee table book and grand opening of the Manila City Hall Clock Tower Museum.

Meant as highlights as the city joins the nation’s celebration of the Museum and Galleries Month, the event was attended by key city officials and notably Lacuna’s parents, former Vice Mayor Danny Lacuna and wife Inday and also her siblings led by Councilors Philip and Lei Lacuna.

Vice Mayor Yul Servo likewise expressed pride to be the working partner of the first lady mayor of Manila, citing how she convincingly won the hearts of Manilans in the last elections, having posted wide margins over her opponents.

Lacuna said the launch of a coffee table book, titled: “Portraits of the Mayors of Manila, “A Book of Honor and Service” is aimed at expressing gratitude to Manila’s past leaders.

For his part, tourism chief Charlie Dungo said the event is “a manifestation of how our mayor value gratitude and how it can also be a vehicle to pursue the artistic talents of the Manileños.”

“Our department is in debt to our local chief executive as these were all her ideas that we laboriously worked on as we took advantage of her love for the arts. Seldom do we find leaders who, aside from competently addressing the needs of the constituents, would also be concerned to the pursuance of our well-being. Culture and the arts are valuable to our character and aspirations, so much so that it should also be given ample attention by our government.” Dungo added.

Meanwhile, Lacuna announced that the Manila City Hall Clock Tower will now be opened to the general public.

She said the museum will be the city’s own center of arts and repository of artifacts to bring back the memories of the 451 years of Manila’s city’s rich culture and history.

(Baby Cuevas)
