MAYOR HONEY PLANS TO LEAD BARANGAY VACCINATION TO ENCOURAGE THE ELIGIBLES TO GET THE SHOTS

MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna is mulling the idea of visiting barangays more often and administer the vaccination herself in order to encourage the unvaccinated and unboosted to take the shots.
Lacuna made the statement after leading the launch of the “PinasLakas” vaccination campaign last July 26 in a barangay in Paco, Manila.

The lady mayor joined national health authorities in the effort to encourage the eligible population to avail of the booster shots via a campaign that would last for 100 days.

According to Lacuna, they prioritize the senior citizens to get vaccinated while urging them and more to get boosted.

A doctor herself, Lacuna stressed the importance of getting the shots, whether primary or booster, for added protection against COVID-19.

She enthused that when she visited a barangay to drum up support for vaccination and administer the shots herself, only ten people were listed but that the number ballooned when she arrived at the site.

“Nung makita ako, dumami kaya mas dadalasan ko, ako na mismo ang bibisita sa inyong barangay para mas makahikayat ng magpa-pabakuna, “ said Lacuna.

It will be recalled that even at the height of the pandemic, Lacuna had been giving the shots herself in the city government’s various designated vaccination sites.

She also conducted home service vaccination for residents who are bedridden or physically incapable to go to the vaccination hubs, to the point of contracting COVID-19 herself. (Baby Cuevas)
