MAYOR HONEY LEADS ‘PINASLAKAS’ CAMPAIGN IN MANILA; VACCINATES PRESIDENTIAL SON

MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna said the city government under her stewardship is fully supporting the “PinasLakas” booster campaign of the Department of Health (DOH), as she and Vice Mayor Yul Servo personally joined the national government efforts to administer booster shots to the remaining eligible population during the first 100 days of the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Lacuna and Servo were in attendance along with Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold ‘Poks’ Pangan, as PBBM led the drive in SM Manila, which is right across the Manila City Hall, joined by other national government officials led by Health Officer-in-Charge Rosario Vergeire and DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos, among others.

Lacuna said her administration is also actively pursuing a vaccination booster drive in time for the resumption of the face-to-face classes on August 22.

The city government of Manila, she added, is in fact continuously calling on parents and guardians to ensure that their kids or wards have already completed their primary vaccinations and booster shots, in the case of those belonging to the 12-17 year old age group.

Lacuna assured that the city of Manila is a hundred percent behind the ‘PinasLakas’ campaign, saying the national government and the Manila LGU share a common goal, which is to provide added protection to their constituents through vaccination, be it primary or booster shots.

In Manila, she said, even non-residents are being vaccinated along with walk-ins and vaccinations are being done in designated shopping malls, health centers and in the six city-run hospitals.

The PinasLakas campaign is the Marcos administration’s way of boosting the country’s vaccine programs, so that progress towards a more health-conscious and safer nation is assured.

Health authorities said that plans to build a vaccine institute are underway, after it was mentioned by President Marcos in his State of the Nation Address. (Baby Cuevas)
