MAYOR HONEY ANNOUNCES OPENING OF TWO NEW HOMES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Two new ‘houses’ were built at the Manila Boystown for the senior citizens being taken care of by the city government there.

Mayor Honey Lacuna said the new homes were inaugurated by Manila department of social welfare chief Re Fugoso in simple ceremonies.

“Pinasinayaan natin ang dalawang bagong bahay ng mga lolo at lola natin sa Luwahati ng Maynila sa Manila Boystown,” Lacuna said, as she also thanked those who sponsored the building of the said two new houses for the senior wards at the Boystown Complex.

“We welcome all kinds of support in Manila,” she added.

Fugoso meanwhile said the newly-donated structures will help a lot in giving the senior wards more space to move around, adding that with the two new homes, she said the original structure housing the elderly wards will now be decongested accordingly.

“Lubos ang pasasalamat ng Lungsod ng Maynila sa pamumuno ni Mayora Honey Lacuna at ng Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) sa Rotary Club of Manila Bay President William Yu at lahat ng bumubuo nito, kay PHILRACOM Chairman Reli De Leon at kay Senator Koko Pimentel,” said Fugoso.

The MDSW, she said, is taking care of at least 400 senior citizens at the Manila Boystown, apart from 30 kids at the Kids Home; 110, Girls Home; 140 Boys Home and 350 homeless and street dwellers.

The wards are either already homeless or have been abandoned by their respective families, Fugoso added. (JERRY S. TAN)
