MANILA FIRE VICTIMS GET AID FROM CITY GOVT

MAYOR Honey Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo and third district Congressman Joel Chua led the distribution of financial aid to families whose houses were razed by a recent huge fire in Sta. Cruz, Manila

Lacuna was assisted by department of social welfare head Re Fugoso, third district Congressman Joel Chua and Councilors Fa Fugoso and Maile Atienza.

According to Lacuna, each family affected by the said fire were given P10,000 each to help them start anew by buying some basic materials for building a new home.


Fugoso said she was tasked by the mayor to swiftly provide the necessary assistance to the fire victims residing in Barangay 311.

During the distribution of assistance yesterday, Fugoso thanked Barangay officials in the area led by Chairman Randy Guillero for helping the city government properly identify the victim families and providing an update on their situation.

“Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa mga Barangay officials ng Barangay 311, pati na kina Chairman Ogie Basilio and Council sa pagtulong sa mga nasunugan, kay Chairman Emil Jimenez na nagpatuloy din sa kanyang barangay hall sa mga tao, at hindi natin makakalimutan ang tulong at sakripisyo ng mga Social Workers at Child Development Workers ng MDSW,” Fugoso said.

The mayor meanwhile also acknowledged the FUGOSO Firefighters who reportedly went back twice to help put out the fire.


Apart from cash aid, Lacuna also directed the distribution to the fire victims of food packs and hygiene kits that included facemasks and toiletries like soap, shampoo, detergent, toothbrush and toothpaste.

The recipients of the assistance totaled 382 families whose houses were gutted by fire that hit P. Guevarra Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila. (Baby Cuevas)
