MANILA EASES OUT QUARANTINE FACILITIES FOR F2F CLASSES

THE city government of Manila is easing out its quarantine facilities located inside schools, in preparation for the face-to-face classes on August 22.

Mayor Honey Lacuna said that as of August 12, only four quarantine facilities remain open to accept patients and of the number, two are located inside schools.

Lacuna notes that the quarantine facilities of the city, which have a total bed capacity of 150, have had zero percent occupancy for quite some time now.

This, she said, is for the reason that these days, most of those who get infected with COVID-19 prefer to quarantine at home.

“Dahil matagal nang zero percent ang pasyente, unti-unti na nating inaalis ang quarantine facilities lalo na sa mga paaralan para magamit ng ating mga mag-aaral sa Maynila,” Lacuna said.

It will be recalled that when face-to-face classes were suspended at the height of the pandemic, the city of Manila converted some schools into quarantine facilities.

Meanwhile, Lacuna continued encouraging Manilans to get vaccinated, saying inoculation is being done in the city Mondays to Sundays.

The mayor, who is also a doctor, said that all brands are available and the vaccination sites continue to serve walk-in individuals and even those who do not reside in Manila.

As of this writing, the total number of persons who have been vaccinated in Manila has already reached a total of 1,730,948.

The total number of individuals who have been administered 1st and 2nd vaccination meanwhile, has reached a total of 3,502,263.

Lacuna said that the bed occupancy in the six hospitals being run by the city government is at 12 percent only or out of the 296 total, only 36 are occupied.

In the Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital headed by Dr. Arlene Dominguez, 117 out of the 344 beds available are occupied, placing the occupancy at about 34 percent. (Baby Cuevas)
