Mayor Isko Moreno asks fire victims to continue praying and trusting in God.

ISKO TELLS FIRE VICTIMS TO PRAY AND TRUST IN GOD

“MAGDADASAL kayo ha. Wag kayo mawawalan ng pag-asa. May Diyos naman eh.”

This was the appeal made by Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno as he addressed families who were rendered homeless by a recent fire that hit a residential area in Binondo on a Sunday.

Moreno, who was assisted by social welfare department chief Re Fugoso and third district Councilor Tol Zarcal, told the fire victims that he had ordered them gathered in Manila City Hall even if it was a Sunday because he knows they need immediate help.

“Nalulungkot ako sa nangyari sa inyo pero life must go on. Konting dila lang ng apoy ubos agad ang bahay mo,” said Moreno, himself a former squatter who eked out living as a scavenger in Smokey Mountain.

The mayor vowed that all he needs is for him to be given the opportunity to lead the country and he will make sure that he will replicate the mass housing program already in place in Manila.

“May awa ang Diyos bigyan ako ng pagkakataon, gagawin ko sa buong bansa ang ating ginawa sa Maynila,” Moreno said, in reference to the mass housing projects for the residents of Manila who have no homes of their own.

These projects are the Tondominium 1 and 2, Binondominium, San Sebastian Residences and Pedro Gil Residences and San Lazaro Residences.

Moreno directed Fugoso to give the usual P10,000 being given for each family who lose their homes during fire incidents in the city since Moreno and Lacuna assumed office in 2019.

What is important, Moreno told the fire victims, is that they are alive and must have the resolve to move on. (Baby Cuevas)
