A total of another 168 homeless families received their new condominium units at the Tondominium 2, during the turnover and inauguration of the said mass housing condominium building in Tondo yesterday.
Presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, mayoral candidate Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and vice mayoral candidate Rep. Yul Servo led the inauguration of Tondominium 2, where Moreno thanked Lacuna and the city councilors along with City Engineer Armand Andres, City Architect Pepito Balmoris and Urban Settlements chief Atty. Cris Fernandez and all the construction workers whom he all praised for working hard to make all of the seven mass housing projects in the city possible.
Moreno called on the 168 recipients of the condo units to keep the place clean all the time, adding: “Ingatan nyo ‘to. Di araw-araw Pasko. Ipagpasalamat ninyo sa Diyos at kung hindi kalabisan, isama po ninyo ako sa inyong panalangin na bigyan ako ng katatagan ng kalooban para suungin ang mahirap na labang ito dahil sa tagumpay ko, milyong pamilya pa ang pupwedeng magbago ang buhay.”
A former squatter too, Moreno said he knows what squatters and renters experience everyday including the uncertainty of ending up in the streets whch is why he and Lacuna have come up with a mass housing program for those who have no homes of their own.
“Kung kaya gawin at nangyari dito sa Maynila, mangyayari din ito kahit saan sa Pilipinas,” Moreno said, hinting that the mass housing program for the homeless can be done nationwide once elected as President of the country.
In his speech, Moreno said that the site of the Tondominium building are government property, adding: “imagine what we can do for the entire nation if we are able lead this country, in God’s grace.”
Moreno guaranteed that Lacuna, as the next mayor of Manila, will continue to build the Tondominium 3 and 4 and the Binondominium 2 and 3, the San Sebastian Residences and San Lazaro Residences.
Lacuna, on her part, said: “Kasabay nyo kami sa patuloy na pagsisikap para maging mas mapanatag, masaya, mapayapa at masagana ang buhay ng bawat pamilyang Manilenyo.”
Lacuna also assured that Moreno will not waste any time in replicating everything that he had done in Manila on a national scale once he becomes President.
“Kailangan nating ang Pangulong may tunay na solusyon at mabilis na aksyon na taglay ang magagandang pangarap para sa mga kapwa Pilipino,” she said.
