MAYOR Honey Lacuna thanked all the heads and personnel of various departments, bureaus and offices in City Hall for observing and leading the first ‘Cleanup Day’ in Manila, pursuant to Executive Order No. 6 which she issued on her first day in office.
Lacuna also expressed pride and gratitude that the first ‘Cleanup Day’ in Manila was a huge success and that everybody cooperated and supported it.
“All departments, bureaus and offices did their cleanups in their respective workplaces, including hospitals, markets, police stations. I am confident they will keep up the good work, ”Lacuna said.
She also commended all the barangays that conducted cleanup activities in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
Believing that ‘cleanliness is next to Godliness,’ Lacuna said a clean workplace is highly reflective of a clean and orderly governance.
It will be recalled that L acuna issued an Executive Order declaring every Friday of the week as cleanup day in the city of Manila.
In the said EO, all departments, offices and bureaus under the Manila local government are enjoined to tidy up their areas of jurisdiction. Lacuna said the order also covers obstructions that do not only serve as eyesores but also as a hindrance to free flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
These obstructions include trash, illegally-parked vehicles both private and public utility and even vendors who cross the line of up to where they are allowed to peddle their wares. (Baby Cuevas)
