In light of the Department of Education-National Capital Region’s (DepEd NCR) Memorandum dated April 28, 2024, taking into consideration the high heat index forecast and the nationwide transport strike starting Monday, April 29, 2024, face-to-face classes in public schools in all levels are suspended on April 29 and 30, Monday and Tuesday, Mayor Honey Lacuna announced.
All public schools are directed to implement “ANY ALTERNATIVE MODE OF LEARNING” as they may deem appropriate, said an advisory issued to the media by Lacuna’s spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante.
Abante said Lacuna also ordered that the suspension of face-to-face classes for private schools shall be left to the discretion of their school administration. However, private schools are encourage to implement any alternative mode of learning as it may deem appropriate.
This is due to the forecasted ‘DANGER’ heat index of 45°C according to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) and the announced nationwide transport strike, said Abante.
