JUSTICES GET EARTHQUAKE PROTECTION FROM MANILA CITY OFFICIALS

JUSTICES from the Court of Appeals received from the government of Manila hard hats that they can use as protection in case of an earthquake.

This, after Associate Justices Carlito Calpatura and Maria Elisa Sempio Diy, both of the Court of Appeals, sought assistance from Mayor Honey Lacuna, through city administrator Bernie Ang, regarding protection gear that they can use in the wake of the earthquakes that hit the country recently.

Ang said that in response and on orders of the mayor, the city government gave the justices at least 100 pieces of hard hats that were turned over to their disaster risk reduction management office.

Presiding Justice Remedios A. Salazar-Fernando and Associate Justices Apolinario Bruselas, Jr., Fernand Lampas-Peralta, Ramon Cruz, Maria Elisa Sempio Diy, Louie Acosta, Ronaldo Roberto Martin, Carlito Calpatura and Jhosep Lopez personally received the hard hats and expressed gratitude to Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto and Ang for showing concern for the welfare of the justices.

It was learned that the mayor herself, along with Servo and Ang, delivered the hard hats to the office of the Court of Appeals.

According to Lacuna, the Supreme Court justices will also be given the same kind of hard hats also for their protection in case of an earthquake.

The lady mayor assured the justices that her administration is more than willing to provide all kinds of assistance possible for the protection of the justices and their employees.

Lacuna said that both the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals also deserve the attention of the city, as they fall directly under the territorial jurisdiction of Manila. (Baby Cuevas)
