PRESIDENTIAL bet and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno expressed gratitude to Tondo residents who paved the way for his 23-year career as a public servant, as he held his miting de avance in Moriones, Tondo which drew a huge attendance of at least 50,000 as usual.
Joined by his runningmate Willie Ong, Manila mayoral candidate Honey Lacuna, vice mayoral candidate Yul Servo and first district Congressman Ernix Dionisio, among others, Moreno went down the memory lane and recalled his days when he was still a dirtpoor boy up to the tome that he was courting votes while running as a Manila councilor in the first district of Tondo.
He also narrated how their family transferred at least six times for failure to pay their monthly rent and how he helped his laundrywoman mother eke out a living.
Moreno thanked his elementary school teacher who was present in the crowd as well as his childhood friends and neighbors who gave him food when he was hungry.
According to Moreno, a vote for him would be a vote for their children’s future, free education, housing and food, among others.
Once again, Moreno called on the people to put an end to the 35 years of bickerings between the yellows and the reds.
“Kung gusto ninyo ng peace of mind narito po ako.Tuldukan na natin ang awayang pula at dilaw.Tao naman,” he said. (Baby Cuevas)
